Fat Pad Fillers

Many people can experience pain as the fat pad in their feet begins to diminish. These fat pads act as pillows for your feet as you walk. As the fat begins to dissipate, feet can begin to hurt as you stand on them, walk on them, and especially as you walk in high heels or professional shoes.

Many people compare the pain to that of walking on pebbles. This condition can cause calluses and corns to form as the body tries to compensate for the repeated pressure to certain areas.

This procedure is recommended for those with:

  • Fat pad loss
  • Diabetes
  • Pressure points
  • Corns and Calluses
  • What Causes Fat Pad Loss

What Causes Fat Pad Loss

As we age, the fat in our body will begin to decrease, which is what causes wrinkles as the fat pads decrease. Your feet will experience pain as there is less to cushion the bone from the ground. As you walk, your fat pads absorb much of the pressure and weight that is applied to the foot.

What Are Fat Pad Injections

Fat pad fillers is an injection of hyaluronic acid fillers, a substance found naturally in the body. This substance is made up of a high density and long-lasting solution so you can feel like you’re walking on clouds again.

What is the Process

Your doctor examines your feet and notes any area of excess pressure, bony prominences, and pain. He will numb the area and mark the precise location for the injection. The injection is nearly painless for most patients.

Patients will notice the “plumping” effects will gradually increase in the next 7-14 days. This is because the filler will attract water to its molecules. Our patients are able to fully walk and resume most activities immediately following the procedure.

You need to keep the area clean and protected. We recommend our patients do not walk barefoot and wear sensible shoes for two weeks.
